Design a stool from a single 48’ x 48’ x 0.5’ plywood sheet using CNC, with assembly via wood joinery, taking inspiration from wood joinery techniques within Chinese architecture.

Inspired by the “Dougong” joint which is used for the construction of traditional Chinese architecture. The Dougong is designed to create structural integrity when weight is applied from the top through only intersecting wooden components.

Prototypes
The model is a half scale model made from 1/4 inch plywood cut by the lasercutter. It is constructed solely from wood joints without any adhesive, allowing it to be disassembled .
